Cozy NOT Sloppy. A Guide to Being A Stylish Minimalist.

First of all, who EVER said that minimalism had to be boring!?

That’s right. It doesn’t have to be.

If you are a person who enjoys dressing in black and white…then so be it. Although, minimalism doesn’t need to be that way! You can have interesting pieces that mean just as much to you as that plain white t-shirt that goes with everything.

I love to have pieces that are special, with pretty colors or patterns. Even though my closet is shrinking, I want to still be able to express myself through clothing. You don’t need to dull your sense of style just to declutter your closet. In fact, you should keep the pieces you love most (that you actually wear).

A lot of the time, we hang onto pieces that we like, but don’t actually use. Sometimes they are gifts from loved ones, and others are ones you don’t want to get rid of it because they are brand new. But the truth is, that it’s just wasting space. Someone else can use that piece of clothing, and actually give it the wear it deserves.

I think it is important to stick to basics when it comes to bottoms, or at least in my experience. I love crazy tops with patterns and textures because no matter which one I choose, I have a simple bottom that goes right with it.

Of course, this can go the other way around!

If you like patterned or bright colored bottoms, you might want to have more simple options for tops! I have these navy blue plaid pants that I LOVE, which go perfectly with some simple flats and a white t-shirt.


I choose pieces that flatter my body, but the most important thing for me is being COMFORTABLE. I don’t want to ever look sloppy, but I want to be able to take on my busy day without any discomfort whatsoever. So when it comes to tops, pants, shoes, etc., I choose things that I know I can wear all day long.

On the topic of shoes, I really think it is important for any women on their minimalistic journey to have a couple of basic necessities.

For one, I love wearing sandals. I really like wearing a Birkenstock type of sandal, just because they go with everything. A good vegan switch for real Birkenstocks are by the brand Madden Girl. Mine costed around $40.00 and are so very comfy.

You know you need a good pair of sneakers, so I won’t go on about that. Therefore, I will move on to the next must-have, which is a good pair of heels.

Now, I am not a very formal person.  Because of this, I don’t really own heels anymore, BUT I do believe that a good solid pair of black heels belongs in every woman’s closet, just because they can dress any outfit up by a ton.

The black heels I own at the moment are a pair of high-heeled booties. They go with everything, and since I wear jeans so much, I find it easy to dress up my outfit with this pair of shoes.

Even though I opt for a lot of simple pieces, I still like to bring out fun ones once in a while, and I like this lifestyle because everything I own has a purpose, and actually gets used.

Houseplants & Their Effect on Our Health…

As a person who always opted for convenience, I never would have thought to have houseplants in my space. I always thought they were a lot of work, and I did’t really see a benefit of having them inside the home.

I am always online, reading about natural ways to be more connected with nature, and how that benefits your own personal wellbeing. I found so many inspiring spaces that included houseplants in them, and something about the plants, was calling me more and more.

I found countless articles on indoor plants that can cleanse your air, provide mental clarity in the workspace, and plants that are okay for your furry friends.

After reading up on all types of plants, I went out and bought two houseplants, which then turned into two more…and then two more. These plants have made my living spaces feel cleaner, and more cozy. A lot of the work I do is from home, so it is really important for me to not only feel like I’m home, but I always feel a need to include little pieces of nature in my spaces as well.

NASA released a chart of the best plants to have if you want something to help kill toxins in your air. Now if you aren’t looking for that, any houseplant will add positivity and love into your home. That is unless it makes your allergies (if you have them) worse of course. I would also suggest that if you have pets, to read up on which plants are okay for your little furry friend.




Even if you don’t care about the health impacts indoor plants can have on your everyday life, plants add something special to the home that a piece of plastic never could. They look great in the home and even in instagram posts….if you’re into that sort of thing. 🙂

I really won’t ever invest my money into a fake plant ever again. My plants that I have just in my bedroom and office area have improved my quality of home life in so many ways. On top of that, they are SO EASY to take care of. I water them all once a day, maybe even every other, and they are thriving. You just have to make sure to read labels, and find out if the plant is right for you.

I encourage you to go out and get a plant of your own to take care of. I guarantee your first will not be your last.

A Journey to Minimalism.

I have always been a person that has “shopped till I dropped”.

That is until I grew older and began to educate myself on my environmental footprint, and what that meant for the world I live in.

I discovered minimalism through the internet of course. I found myself bingeing on youtube videos, and I became obsessed with the idea of bringing some of these tips into my own living space.

I started with my basic belongings.

I asked myself, “Does this item bring me happiness…Is it still functional?…How long have I been holding onto this?”

Those three questions helped me tremendously, and I found myself with a HUGE pile of things that I felt I didn’t need. A lot of the items were in great condition, so I donated some, posted others on online platforms to be sold, and other things were so old that it was time for them to hit the bin (which was my last option).


I then went through all of my dresser and did the same thing with all the drawers which included my hoarder style makeup drawer. I had so much stuff!

The minute those things were out of my living space, I had a huge weight come off of my shoulders that I didn’t even know existed. Even though I got a lot of things out of my home, I am still left with so many things that I could go without, which is why I’ve vowed to not buy any new clothing, makeup, furniture, etc.. until I really NEED something. If my pants are falling apart, of course I will treat myself to a new pair. The next pair though, will definitely be a conscious purchase and I will buy from an ethical source.

I really advise anyone and everyone (you) to look around your living space and as yourself if you really NEED everything you own. LESS IS MORE!

Through my journey through minimizing my belongings, I have become less stressed than I ever have been. My space feels open and welcoming and it’s really nice to not be spending money on new things I really don’t even need.

I hope that this quick read really gets you to think about all the things you purchase and own. I feel that most of us have WAY more than we really need and living more simply leads to happier and healthier lives.

5 Tips For Beginner Solo Travelers!

So, you want to take a trip on your own, but you’re scared.

A lot of the time, we are afraid to go off and do things on our own. Maybe it is because you don’t think it’s safe to travel alone, that you put it off.

Well, i’m here to tell you that you can totally travel alone safely as long as you take precautions when taking off on your own.

On my first trip alone, I wasn’t nervous but I did make a lot of effort to look like I wasn’t traveling. I dressed simply, I stayed off my phone, and I kept my head head high. I reminded myself to always be aware of my surroundings, and I took my pocket alarm EVERYWHERE I went. If I felt unsafe walking in a certain place, I kept my hand on my alarm till I felt safe or until I got to my Airbnb. I can’t stress enough how fine I felt when on vacation on my own. I felt safe and I could do as I pleased.

The Reasons I Went Vegan and Why You Should Too

Before I Was Introduced to Veganism

I was always an animal lover. At a young age, I spent a lot of my free time outside playing with stray cats, bringing them into my home, and trying to help animals in need as much as I could. I spent a lot of my younger days loading up on cheese and drinking glasses of milk with a lot of my meals (my grandparents told me it would make me strong).

It wasn’t until high school when I joined a group that taught us about eco-friendliness and where our food actually comes from, that I realized animal products weren’t for me, or for any of us on that matter.
